Zaki, city police chief took a look at Pilkades


Tangerang regent A. Zaki Iskandar and the Jakarta City Police chief (Kapolda) Insp. Gen. Tito Karnavian took a look at the ongoing village head election (Pilkades) in Suradita village, Pagedangan district on Sunday.

Tito said the implementation of village heads election process turned condusive as there was no meaningful threats discovered at polling stations throughout the regency’s 26 districts so far.

“I also hope that the media can put everything on balanced sides in exposing the election process, not provoking the situation,” he said.

As many as 77 villages were holding Pilkades simulatneously on Sunday and the police had clasified 15 villages prone to being troubled at polling stations during the election process.

“What I mean by prone to being troubled is that there are always possible conflicts resulted in protests from the candidates and their supporters at polling stations,” he said, adding that the police had waried a number of village head candidates who can possibly spark conflicts.

To secure the election process, Tangerang Regency Police (Polresta) deployed 1,877 officers assited by 333 TNI personnels, 344 Public Order officers and 385 election suprevisory commettee (Panwas) members .

Regent Zaki said simultaneous Pilkades is held in 77 villages of 26 districts in the regency. Temporal report say that the election had run peacefully. It means that coordination between the election committee and security officers had also run well.

“I hope that vote count can have been completed before 6 pm today. The presence of Kapolda here shows security support for us,” he said.

Tangerang regental police chief Adj. Sr. Com. Irman Sugema called on the candidates to accept lost or victory fairly.
